Do You Suffer From Sitting Disease?

man working with back painWe sit at work. We sit in our cars traveling to and from work. We go home and sit some more while watching TV. While sitting may seem harmless, it’s anything but. Those who sit too much and are generally inactive have a greater chance of developing chronic illnesses.

Get Moving

If you have a desk job, it’s a good idea to get up every 45 minutes to an hour. Consider standing while conducting a meeting or conference call. Take the stairs versus the elevator. During your lunch break take a walk around the office or stroll outside.

Use a Standing Desk

This nifty invention makes fitting in workday movement easier than ever. Your best bet is an adjustable desk that allows you to raise it and lower it throughout the day. While sitting all day isn’t a good idea, neither is standing. That’s why an adjustable desk allows you to alternate between the two.

It’s also important to remember to move when you’re in the standing position. Standing still won’t provide much help. However, if you march or dance, for example, you’ll maximize the benefits of a standing desk.

Get Adjusted

Sitting can make your hips and back tight. That’s why it’s important to get adjusted. Doing so can help your body to move correctly. So when you do go to walk or engage in another form of exercise, you won’t experience pain.
